Ministries

At Union Grove Baptist Church, we believe God’s promise that “His salvation is to all generations.” It is amazing to see the many different people God has called together to be a part of the Union Grove Baptist Church family. If you stop and take a look around our church, you will notice children, young adults, senior adults both single and married all worshiping and serving the Lord. Knowing that God’s salvation is to all generations, we place a high priority on making sure our ministries extend to all generations.

The word ministry means service. It is developing an understanding of your gifts and abilities, and applying them to do the work of the church. This gives our members, the congregation, an opportunity to pursue their calling. “Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift.” II Corinthians 9:15.

Below you will have the opportunity to explore several of the different ways we at Union Grove Baptist Church seek to invest in Worship, Discipleship, Fellowship, and Evangelism.  Our mission at UGBC is To glorify God by advancing the Gospel – the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Each of these ministries seek to fulfill these distinct and overlapping areas of purpose.

Something For Everyone

Union Grove Baptist Church is very excited about the opportunity to help parents shape and build the next generation. We offer several exciting and challenging ministries each week that will assist you in teaching children the character traits that God’s Word says will make your young person a productive and purpose driven person.

Sunday School

We offer a Sunday School class for each stage of your child’s life. This takes place each Sunday morning at 9:00 in different rooms throughout our facilities. Our ushers are more than happy to help you discover where your child needs to go in order to have a great experience learning from experienced teachers in a safe and welcoming class. During this time, we provides the children with a lesson from God’s Word, a craft, study sheet or activity page to do in class and a take home paper to be able to discuss with their parents what they have learned in class. Reaching children for the Lord is an opportunity these Sunday School teachers have to help parents as we try to teach these precious souls about Christ.

Children’s Church

Our Children’s Church meets in the lower level during our sermon time. Our children ages 3 years through kindergarten join us for the opening announcements, prayer and congregational singing and then are dismissed following the choral ministry. We have several adults that take turns teaching lessons and doing craft projects with the children during this ministry.

Children’s Choir

During the summer months our children can participate in a summer program and a summer choir. Learning about the Bible and singing for the glory of the Lord. They usually do a special number one or two times in the morning service to share with our congregation what they have learned.

Nursery I and II

Our staff works diligently to provide a safe and welcoming place where your child will become accustomed to interacting with others and being loved as they become aware of their surroundings. We offer an Infant Nursery for ages 0-18 months and then a Toddler Nursery for those children 18 months – 2 years of age.

AWANA

During the school portion of the year we offer AWANA Clubs (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed). This is an international program that explores God’s Word, allows children to learn important truths about the Bible and the God of the Bible. (Learn more below)

SummerQuest

During the summer months we have a great program that allows young people to continue to enjoy learning and keeping up with their friends. They sing songs and continue to have opportunities to learn more truths about God through the Bible. There are games galore and prizes as well.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Each summer the church takes on a theme that takes over the whole facility. It is a weeklong event where each night children ages 4 through the 6th grade are invited to come and have a blast! There are team competitions and great prizes for saying verses, bringing a friend, and just for showing up for the events each night. Check out the church calendar to see when the next VBS will be coming to UGBC.

Each week there are various ways your teenager can find relationships with peers and adults that will influence them to see God and how the Bible can adequately help them prepare for adulthood. Union Grove Baptist Church seeks to make sure that your young people are surrounded by caring leaders who have proven to love and care for the future of the young people they work with. As a church we are very careful in selecting our leaders and verify their character and background so you can rest assured that we are doing all we can to lead your child safely along the path God has placed them upon. There are several ways for your young person to get involved at UGBC.

Sunday School

Every Sunday morning at 9:00 we offer a Sunday school class just for those young people in the 7th through 12th grades. Our teachers are passionate about teaching young people and have a real love for them. They will be taught clear truths from God’s Word that will apply to the challenges a young person faces in this day and age.

Wednesday Night Bible Study

Each Wednesday night all year long the teens meet in the Youth Room (located in the annex, beside the playground and adjacent to the gymnasium). This event takes place at 6:30PM and goes for about an hour and a half. Here they play some fun games, sing songs, and interact with a challenge from God’s Word. They also pray together and prepare for different fun activities and service opportunities. The leaders strive to get to know each teen and try to help them through any difficult situation that may come into their lives which can benefit from spiritual instruction. They plan times of fun and games together during the year to get to know one another better and to encourage one another.

Activities

Throughout the year the teens are given opportunities to experience great fun and ministry opportunities. Some examples are Capture the Flag, Shoppers in Disguise, and S.N.A.C. (Sunday Night After Church) where they go to a person’s home and enjoy food and fellowship after a Sunday night service. The teens have helped with raking leaves for elderly people in the community and doing other service type projects around the church or in the community. Once a quarter the youth take over a Sunday night service and provide the special music, help collect the offering, and give a brief devotional. For more information check out the calendar and see what other events are planned in the near future.

YETI

Annually our church invites area teens to come and be a part of an all day event called the YETI. This is an evangelistic outreach with a special speaker and many fun activities for the teens of the church and community to take part in. This usually takes place in September of each year.

Christian Day School

Union Grove Baptist Church has chosen to work tirelessly with you as parents to help you in the rearing and nurturing of your children. One of the greatest ways we believe we can do that is by helping you shape the world view, the way your child sees the world around him or her. The Union Grove Christian School has been around since 1974 and offers a full PreK through 12th grade educational experience. Check out our page that talks more specifically about Union Grove Christian School. Perhaps God would have you enroll your child in this phenomenal ministry to not only educate the mind of your child, but also to educate the heart for God.

We have a growing number of young adults who are seeking ways to enjoy each others’ company and attend events together. There is a Sunday School Class as well as different planned events throughout the year. Check out the calendar for the next Young Adults activity.

Union Grove Baptist Church is a ministry that seeks to help encourage people in every walk of life. We seek to enable singles and married people alike. We seek to minister to the elderly as well as the newlyweds. We want our college students to find a place that will allow them to grow and become active participants as they discover adulthood in the realm of the church. In order for this to happen we seek to be fluid in meeting the needs of the body as God brings people into our church family.

Sunday School

Each Sunday morning at 9:00 there are specific classes for the adults of our congregation. These classes vary but consist of various studies that range from topical to specific books of the Bible. Everyone is welcome and each class is led by a passionate teacher who will assist you in your growth and spiritual maturity.

Ladies Bible Study

Throughout the year there will be specific Bible studies that allow the women of our church to come together and work through specific topics or books of the Bible. The studies vary in how long they run and when they are offered. Please look for announcements concerning the next study and sign up as the Lord allows.

Men’s Fellowship and Bible Study

Our men seek ways to come together for work projects and different events throughout the year. As opportunity arises the men will also meet for a Bible study and work through God’s Word as a group.  Check out the calendar for the next opportunity to serve or study together.

Ladies Missionary Fellowship

There is a Ladies Missionary Fellowship that meets faithfully each month and prays for the missionaries that UGBC supports. The goal is to learn more about our missionaries and pray for their needs each month. We get to read through their latest prayer letters and pray specifically for the needs, wants and ministry concerns. There is a time of refreshment following our prayer time. This ladies group also is in charge of the Missionary Cupboard and striving to place items in the cupboard that our missionaries who visit and speak at the church can go through and find items that will help them in their ministry. The next meeting is on the church calendar and you will find where it is meeting as it moves each month to a different location.

Senior Saints

There are different organized events for those of our congregation that are still young at heart and yet have found themselves described as senior in status. There are different opportunities throughout the year to meet at local restaurants, attend a play put on by our Christian school, or gather for a craft night.

College and Career

We have a growing number of young adults who are seeking ways to enjoy each others’ company and attend events together. There is a Sunday School Class as well as different planned events throughout the year. Check out the calendar for the next College/Career activity.

Choir

The choir meets each week to practice at 4:45 PM on Sunday evenings before the evening service. They prepare a special number for each Sunday morning service. The choir also prepares special presentations and Cantatas for those times of the year such as Easter and Christmas. The goal is to worship our Lord in song.

Banquet and Fellowship Committees

In the course of a year there are several annual events that we offer that allows our church family to come together for fellowship. Some examples are Valentine’s Banquet, Mother/Daughter Banquet, Senior Saints Banquet, and other such events that give us good reason to eat a meal together and share in the company of our fellow believers and even strangers that are invited to come and participate.

Banquet Committee: Our men and women serve our congregation in many ways during the year. When we plan events we have a volunteer group that takes on the responsibility of picking a theme, decorating and preparing a meal for the various banquets we have during the calendar year. Valentine, Mother-Daughter and Father-Son are examples of some of the banquets we have enjoyed at the church.

Fellowship Committee: Our women of the church are blessings during times of need for our congregation. They volunteer to bring food for funeral luncheons, help prepare carry-in dinners for all of us to enjoy, sign up to bring food for families that are facing hospital recovery times or other times of need. We appreciate the ministry of each of these servants as they try to reach out in Christian love to help our church family through hard times or just enjoy fellowship with one another.

Get a biblical perspective on the decisions you face. Our ministry leaders are available to meet with you and talk about your major life decisions. Contact us to setup and appointment and we’ll be glad to help.

For nearly 60 years, AWANA has been a leader in children’s ministry, helping churches and parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ. During the school portion of the year we offer AWANA Clubs (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed). This is an international program that explores God’s Word, allows children to learn important truths about the Bible and the God of the Bible. They also learn how they can have a growing relationship with this God. There are tons of games, fun songs, and many ways to earn prizes and awards. Throughout the AWANA year, there are different events like a carnival, singing in nursing care facilities, and other ways they can have fun and enjoy the other clubbers.

PUGGLES: Our younger children can participate in this AWANA program for 2 and 3 year olds. We introduce them to the wonders of God and his creation and introduce them to the truths of his Holy Word.

We offer CUBBIES for preschool children, SPARKS for Kindergarten through Second Grade and TRUTH & TRAINING for grades 3 to 6.

We meet almost every Wednesday at 6:15 pm to 8:00 pm, between the months of September through May.  For more information, stop by. Parents are welcome to stay and visit or give us a call at (262) 878–1264.

The very heart beat of God is to reach the vast numbers of souls that have never yet heard of the tremendous love of Jesus Christ.  At Union Grove Baptist Church we seek to give generously to several individuals and families that have believed it to be their purpose in life to go beyond the borders of the United States and travel with the good news of God’s love to such people.  Our hope is to keep the burden of missions in front of our eyes so that we never forget that just as important as it is to reach our own part of the world, God wants us to be helping others do the same in other lands.

Our church operates a community food pantry on the third Monday of each month to help families in need with food and some household items. We stock the shelves and have a time of “shopping” so items can be shared with families in need. Donations are always accepted toward this ministry.

Our ministry boards include:

Deacons: The men who are elected to the deacon board watch over the spiritual needs of the church with our pastor, care for the maintenance of the church building, help the pastor in any way necessary to meet the needs of the congregation and seek to be spiritual leaders in the church. They oversee the finances of the church and present a budget to the congregation each year.

School Board: The men and women on this board watch over the operation of the school, promote our school in any way they can, help to make decisions regarding staffing and overall operations with the help of the administrator and help and promote with school activities.
